As in between of types of solar panels, there are many types like monocrystal, polycrystal, and thin film types. Mono crystal and polycrystal are made as solid cells or panels which have advantage of high efficiency for energy production.
But the advantages that thin film solar panels have are that it could be shaped according to the surface of mount, lower manufacturing price, and higher stability against wider temperature range.
As Thin film has high level of reliability and smoothy. It is not required to have flat surface for mounting. It could be placed over surfaces with shape of convex.
The disadvantages are; it has lower efficiency than monocrystal and poly crystal panels, and to have same power produced from monocrystal or polycrystal panels a larger area is required.
So, in solar streel lighting and solar garden lighting systems, generally it is preferred to use mono or poly crystal panels.
